Dr. Mark Drummond, Chancellor California Community Colleges at 1:29:00 (takes no position but supports the concept of equal pay and equal service to students) provides essential background information.  His comments that assignment of faculty should be an academic choice, not based on "dollars and cents" can be found at 1:31:15.  Comments regarding 75% of community college students needing basic skills can be found at 1:31:50.

It should be noted that the line of individuals to make public comments on this bill included part-time faculty from several districts, their students and their parents.  The line reached out the door of the hearing room, and the number of those wishing to speak exceeded public comments for any bill that day.
