We sail a six weekend, twelve race schedule in the fall, holding two races per day on Saturdays in September and October. Skipper's meetings are held at 11:30 with the first start at 1 p.m.
In early November, we hold the “Turkey Regatta,” a pursuit race followed by an early potluck dinner at the lake. In a pursuit race, handicaps are taken before the start, so that each boat, depending on its rating, has its own start time, with the slowest rated boat starting first. Theoretically, all boats would be crossing the finish very close to each other. The winner of the previous year’s regatta brings the turkey for this year’s potluck.
Jake and Nancy sail Popeye in the 2009 Turkey Regatta.
This is a pursuit-style race specifically designed to get us all back at the beach for dinner at about the same time.
If you have a late starting time, that means we think you're a great sailor and must be hard to beat!
